DENIS MATSUEV –Piano Magician with russian Soul

Denis Matsuev „as a triple“: After the both european Tours 2014 und 2016, enthusiastic celebrated by public and press, this exceptional virtuoso is coming back on the concert stages in November / Dezember 2018 for six Piano Recitals in Germany, Belgium and Belgien und Prague.

In the first part of the program Denis Matsuev is diving in with passionate impetusand individual expressionism into the emotional „Sturm und Drang“ sphere of the beginning 19. century in Ludwig van Beethovens „Sturm“ – Sonata d minor op. 31, Nr. 2, having the legend tob e inspired by a drama of Shakespeare. In the bright, lucid and cheerful atmosphere of the late sonata As-major op. 110 the maestro form Vienna at the end of his pianistic oeuvre is remembering former compositorical techniques like the toccata-like passages of a baroque prelude, the cantic expression of a solo – rezitatives in a cantata of Bach or in the last part the polyphony of a contrapuntal fugue – simultaneously looking into the future with a new ‚romantic‘ sonata concept !

The second part of the evening is dedicated entirely tot he melancholy and sadness of the ‚russian Soul‘ with sparkling, glittering arpeggios of the gis-minor – prelude op. 32 No.12 of Sergey Rachmaninov, whose following Etude Tableaux Nr. 2 in a-minor op. 39 brings a personal intimate chant melody.

At the brillant Finale Denis Matsuev is showing again all aspects of his stupend and brillant pianistic skill. In his „Grand Sonata“ in G-major op. 37, P.I. Tschaikowsky is formally and expressively „bending a big bow“ of a romantic sonata architecture. Beneath the wide-spread thematic developments of the sonata form in the first chapter als the cantable lyric melody of a romantic Andante middle section is appearing in the midst, as well as the quickly scurrying passages of a Scherzo. Final Firework at the end is lit by the final rondo section.
